The 848 Challenge - fifteen races, eight rounds, four world
championship circuits, two overseas rounds and two thousand pounds worth
of Ducati Corse Riding Gear.
Ducati UK and New Era Motorcycle Club have joined forces to launch a
prestigious ‘one-make series’ based on Ducati’s stunning 848 Superbike.
The race series to be known as the 848 Challenge will be run over eight
rounds, six in the UK and two in Europe incorporating four world
championship circuits. Each of the UK rounds will host two races.
Misano will also hold two races with Assen being a single race.
The 848 Challenge will offer participants a unique opportunity racing at
some of the best circuits in the UK and abroad with the intention to visit
four World Championship circuits that would include Brands Hatch,
Silverstone, Misano and Assen. The Misano round will be held during
the weekend of the 12th and 13th June where the renowned World Ducati
Week takes place - a Ducati festival that is attended by up to 50,000
fans. The Assen Circuit will welcome the 848 Challenge during the biggest
amateur race meeting the ‘Ducati Club Races’. Other circuits on the
calendar include Cadwell, Castle Coombe, Oulton and Snetterton.
There will be 8 rounds at the following venues:
25th April Silverstone
1-3rd May Oulton Park BSB round
30th May Assen – Ducati Club Races
12-13th June Misano – World Ducati Weekend
17/18th July Snetterton
7/8th August Brands Hatch BSB round
11th September Castle Combe
2/3rd October Cadwell Park
Both of the BSB rounds will include televised coverage. The Silverstone,
Snetterton, Castle Combe and Cadwell Park rounds will also be attended by
the Ducati Sporting Club's Desmo Due series.
All competitors will use the same model of bike (848/848 Dark) which with
the exception of race fairings, tyres and exhausts will remain
predominately standard. The 848 produces 134hp and 70.8lb-ft of torque
and is regarded as one of the finest handling bikes in its class. The
848 and offers the same design and visual profile as the bike campaigned
in World Superbikes by riders such as Troy Bayliss, Noriyuki Haga, Michel
Fabrizio and Shane Byrne.
Competitors can purchase a new 848/848 Dark from any official Ducati
dealer and included in the price will be a new Ducati Corse Riding Gear
Set (Ducati Corse leather suit, Arai Chaser helmet, Ducati Corse gloves,
Puma boots and Dainese-Ducati Back Protector) worth an estimated £2,000,

New Ducati Corse Logo is Launched
Multistrada 1200
1198R Corse Edition
Ducati
has released a new flagship Superbike the 1198R Corse Edition.
Changes include an aluminium tank and new graphics to match the new Corse
Logo, plus it comes with a paddock stand and full Termignoni exhaust as
well as a “certificate of authentication.”
1198S Corse
The 1198S Corse Special Edition weighs in
at 1Kg less than thee 1198S thanks to a beautifully made lightweight fuel
tank, which boosts the bike's fuel capacity by 2.5 litres to 18 litres.
The tank is formed in 2mm thick aluminium, brush finished and clear-coated
to maintain a factory race tank feel and proudley displays the new Ducati
Corse logo on top.
Hypermotard 1100 EVO and EVO SP
The Hypermotard 1100 EVO and EVO SP are lighter and more powerful than
the base model Hyper. Ducati claims a 15.5-lb weight reduction to a svelte
379-lb dry weight and a five-horsepower increase which puts it in the
95-hp ballpark if the claims pan out.
At the heart of the weight savings program is a lighter engine. The
Desmodue Evoluzione (thus the EVO nomenclature) features the latest
Vacural-cast cases, combined with a lighter crankshaft, flywheel and
alternator to provide a substantial 11.5-lb weight savings compared to the
original design. The original 98 x 71.5mm bore and stroke configuration
returns with the EVO models. The additional power and increased torque,
which is now claimed to be in the region of 76 lb-ft at 5700 rpm, comes
about from advancements to the L-Twin’s new head design.
Improved lubrication channels keep things moving more-freely internally
while improving cooling properties. An oil-cooler with 85% more cooling
area should keep the air-cooled mill running strong despite the boost in
performance output. A redesigned combustion chamber, a higher compression
ratio and a change from dual to single spark plug configuration are said
to be at the core of the performance upgrades. Service intervals are still
set at 7500 miles.

Hypermotard 796
HYPERMOTARD 796. The new way to ‘Go Hyper’
Ahead of the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan,
Ducati release images previewing its newest model – the fun
and versatile Hypermotard 796.
Just as aggressively striking as the 1100, the lightweight new
Hypermotard 796 features a lower seat height and brand new
smooth and flexible engine to make it the perfect
urban assault vehicle.
A dry weight of just 167kg (368lb) and seat height of
825mm (32.5in) makes the Hypermotard 796 a
sure-footed 20mm (0.8in) lower than the 1100 and
inspires confidence however and wherever it’s ridden.
The completely new
Ducati 796 engine has a bore and stroke of 88mm x 66mm,
conforms to Euro 3 regulations and produces 81hp (59.6kW) of power
and 55.7lb-ft (7.7kgm) of torque with the smooth and very
economical rideability enjoyed from all Desmodue L-Twins.
The new power unit is also equipped with an APTC ‘wet’ clutch
to give a ‘slipper’ type action that prevents
destabilization of the rear-end during aggressive down-shifting and also
gives the extra benefit of a super-light feel at the
adjustable lever, a great advantage in stop-start city
traffic or during longer journeys.
The new Hypermotard 796 comes in an urban-style
Dark finish with matte black tank and beak
section, black frame and black wheels or, alternatively, matte
white tank with contrasting matte black beak, black frame and
black wheels. For the purists, an 1100 look-alike with Ducati
red tank with matching beak section, red frame and black
wheels gives the 796 a traditional livery.
Whether it's working the daily commute or attacking the open roads,
the 796 will ride the common ground between
manners and madness
by mixing Ducati’s unrivalled twin-cylinder power and
sportbike heredity with the lightweight and
minimalist supermotard concept.
Available in Ducati dealership from November 2009, a
brand new way to go Hyper: The Hypermotard 796.
